How do I enroll my child? 

You'll schedule an enrollment appointment during the phone interview. A member of our team will help you complete enrollment paperwork. At your scheduled enrollment appointment, please bring the following documents: 

• Proof of your child’s age
• Income information and/or public assistance award letter for TANF, SNAP and/or SSI

You may also be asked to provide: 

• Foster placement paperwork
• Verification of McKinney-Vento
• Your child’s current IEP
• If your child has medication needs, allergies, or diet restrictions, please be aware we will need to work with you and your pediatrician to have documentation and a health plan in place before your child can start school

What happens after I complete the enrollment process?

Completing enrollment paperwork does not guarantee your child a spot in the program. Center staff will contact you when a spot is available. 

ESD 113 Early Learning Program offers preschool classes for children ages 3 and 4 years old through Head Start. Children must turn 3 by August 31 (before the current school year). We give priority placement to 4-year-old students.

Who does Head Start serve?

Head Start serves families who meet any of the following: 

• With a family income at or below the Federal poverty guidelines
• Who are currently receiving TANF, SNAP, or supplemental social security
• Who are applying on behalf of a foster child
• Who are currently McKinney-Vento eligible

Can I apply even if I don't meet these requirements? 

Yes. If you would like to be considered for Head Start even though you may not otherwise qualify, you may use the application to describe the special challenges and circumstances of your family.

These guidelines are developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The tables below reflect the HHS 2025 Poverty Guidelines: 48 Contiguous States (all states except Alaska and Hawaii). 

Specific class times vary per center and classroom. All our Head Start centers run from September through May or June. We are a school program—your home address or child’s daycare must reside within the catchment area of the school to enroll.

• Part-day model: 3.5 hours a day, Tuesday–Friday
• School-day model: 6.5 hours a day, Tuesday–Friday and alternating Mondays
